Oil Heat Cares Helps Family of Late Police Officer

Dominic Belcastro, a Phillipsburg, NJ police officer, died in an off-duty motorcycle accident on April 3, 2021. He left behind his wife of nine years, Kristen, and two young daughters, Lilawyn Mae & Georgia.

Dom had been working overtime to save up for a new oil tank and heating system, but now those funds had to be redirected to help keep his wife & children in the family home in Stewartsville.

The Garden State Chapter of OESP jumped in to help, as part of Oil Heat Cares.

Jim Froehlich from All American Oil Recovery was called to look at the aging steel oil tank by Dave Belcastro, Dominic’s father. Dave, retired from Ludlow Heating & Air Conditioning, had worked with Jim on many tank projects and knew him well. In addition, Ludlow Heating & Air has supported Jim in the Care to Ride for many years.

Once Jim found out about the need for a new oil tank and heating system, as well as the financial situation of the family, he brought the project to the Garden State chapter, putting the wheels into motion.

Jim and his crew from All American Oil Recovery removed the old steel tank and Ernesto Perez and Steve Hankerson from Van Varick & Sons installed a new Roth 165-gallon double wall fuel oil tank.

Thank you to Energy Kinetics for donating the boiler and storage tank and to Tom Raulinavich & Joe Harazim for facilitating. And thank you to Dick Brandt from Van Doren Oil for donating a free tank of oil.

The new heating system was installed on October 26 with the assistance of: Tom Raulinavich & Joe Harazim from Energy Kinetics, Jim Froehlich from All American Oil Recovery, Dick Brandt from Van Doren Oil, George DeJesus from George's Drains, Tom Gallagher, Jr. from Jack Frost Heating & A/C, and Charley Holmes from Venco Sales.

At the completion of the project, Dave and his daughter-in-law, Kristen, were at a loss for words for what was done. They no longer have to worry about an old broken-down heating system, and can rest a little easier this winter.

We are also happy to welcome both George DeJesus and Tom Gallagher, who are new OESP members.
