Greater Seacoast Chapter Project 2
November 2003, Gay's home burned to the ground and she lost almost everything. She had no homeowners insurance, so friends let her borrow their camper. May 2004, while making arrangements for her mother's funeral, a fire broke out in the camper and for the 2nd time in six months she lost everything. Town residents and local businesses got together and built Gay a new home. She had everything but plumbing and heating. The Greater Seacoast Chapter was contacted and they agreed to install a furnace for Gay. Cardinal & Glidden surveyed the house and drew up a plan. Their supplier, API of NH calculated the heat loss and provided the duct design. API also contacted various manufacturers for donations – Rheem Mfg. supplied the furnace, Acme Mfg the sheet metal duct and flue pipe, Reflectix the duct wrap, Hart & Cooley, registers, United Components the digital thermostat; Redlon Johnson the oil tank and Venture Corp provided the duct tape. And of course, members of the chapter included – employees of WS Clark, Pritzker HVAC, Cardinal & Glidden and Michael Breckon, API. • Back to Showcase List |
