Lehigh Valley Chapter Project 2
Instructor, Jeff Sweda, teaching his students the importance of reading instructions and wearing safety glasses. It definitely takes teamwork to complete this project. The Vital House is being kept nice and warm thanks to their new Viessmann Boiler and the students from Hazelton Career Center.
Oil Heat Cares projects are designed to help our neighbors in need. But sometimes, more is gained than simply providing heat. Take for example the project recently completed by members of the Lehigh Valley Chapter and spearheaded by Richard Donald of Frame Oil Company, Hazleton, PA.

The instructor of the Hazleton Area Career Center, Jeff Sweda is supported by Frame Oil and many other contractors in the area. Jeff takes advantage of the many opportunities that our industry offers. Each year he brings students to our convention and generally has one of his students win the burner competition – this year both days. He has had scholarship winners as well. The school recently purchased a building, the Vital House, that would be used to teach life skills to mentally challenged adults. The boiler in the building was tired and worn. Jeff saw OHC as an opportunity to teach his students a few life lessons as well as how to do an oil heat installation.

The installation project was approved by the school and then presented to OHC. Frame Oil pulled the project together with the help of AVCO supply and the community home is now comfortably warm with a new Viessmann Boiler and a special thanks to those who saw this as a way to teach more than simply heating.
