Garden State Chapter Wins the 2nd Annual Oil Heat Cares Cup

At NAOHSM’s (National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers) annual Awards Banquet held Tuesday, May 16th at the Marriott, Hartford, CT, the Garden State Chapter learned that they were the 2nd chapter to receive the Oil Heat Cares Cup.

This chapter demonstrated what Oil Heat Cares is all about – they saw a need within their neighborhood of Union County, New Jersey and got together a team of professionals that included: Paul Cuprewich, Wooley Fuel, Dorsey Finn and Rich Michael, Mitchell Supreme and a crew from Petro, Clark, NJ – Ken Paterson, President of the Chapter, Bruce Bridge, Ed Lysick and Jim Winkler.

We all know that it’s a challenge meeting the needs of our children, but when you hear about a family with 11 children and one of them sick with leukemia, you can’t help but want to reach out and do what you can to support them. The Garden State Chapter learned that this family has been without central heat for 2 years so they got together and formulated a plan. Not only did the chapter make a conversion from gas to oil, but the chapter truly is a hero to the family.

They even made the job of OHC easier by going directly to some industry friends. Weil McLain donated a boiler, twin Roth Tanks were donated and Ridgewood Supply along with local oil companies donated many other supplies and Mitchell Supreme Fuel topped off the job with their first tank of heating oil. Knowing how much a typical job costs OHC, the directors decided to help out too by providing some money for oil and a gift certificate for the family.

This is just one of the many jobs that have been done under Oil Heat Cares. To learn more about the program and how you can get involved, go to www.oilheatcares.com or call 888-552-0900.
