Benefit Seminar Nets $5,000

The newest Oilheat industry charitable endeavor, "Oil Heat Cares," established an impressive foothold by raising $5,000 at the first seminar held in Baltimore, Maryland recently. The success is attributed to the sponsors and trainers that donated their time and effort and the many attendees.

The proceeds from this seminar will be contributed to "Oil Heat Cares," the industry's program for home heating and comfort upgrades for families in need. At last report, projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions had been submitted for consideration by "Oil Heat Cares."

Industry educators Alan Mercurio, John Levey, Bob Hedden, George Lanthier, Jim Peters and Dan Holohan, plus Jim Erhardt of Slant Fin and Plumbing & Mechanical writer David Yates accommodated the teaching chores and provided Oilheat personnel with new and innovative approaches to common heating service and installation tasks.

Oilheat industry sponsors included Arlex Oil Corp., Armstrong Pumps, Matthew Bessette, Burnham Corp., Bradford White, Greystone Services, Honeywell, Riello, Slant Fin, Testo and Weil-McLain.

The Oilheatcares.com website will be up and running in the near future. "Oil Heat Cares" jobsites will be showcased on the site, along with updates to contributions and the forms necessary to request funds for equipment needed to complete a job. An online auction is also planned.

The next two-day benefit program will be hosted at the New England Institute of Technology, Warwick, R.I. June 14-15, 2005 and will include an industry party between the two days. The costs to attend the seminars will be $98.00 a day or $198.00 for both days. A block of rooms is being held at the Sheraton Hotel in Warwick, R.I.
