Care To Ride

Our Annual Care to Ride event is held in conjunction with OESP or the National Association of Oil and Energy Service Professionals (formerly NAOHSM) annual convention and trade show and is the major fundraiser for Oil Heat Cares Foundation. This year our event was held in Hershey, May 23rd and between our sponsors and our participants, we raised nearly $60,000.

Roger Marran, Energy Kinetics, was challenged this year by various people and it paid off for OHC. Roger has been a strong supporter of our foundation for many years. He has won the biking event and overall by raising the most funds. This year, more people got into the act and decided to take the challenge on and beat Roger’s efforts. Well he still won the biking event but Ralph Adams took home the honors of raising the most for his efforts with the motorcycle division and Team CT won the bragging rights for the most money raised. Other top fundraisers were Judy Garber, Walking and Traci Ross the Running division.

Something new this year – we started the event later in the day and all participants were met at the opening reception. The founder of this event, Don Farrell, was surprised and honored Tuesday evening at the Association’s annual awards banquet by being one of 3 recipients of the travelling OHC Cup. In addition to Don, the Delaware Valley and Nassau Suffolk Chapters too were honored for their continual effort in helping those within their neighborhoods that needed a helping hand.
